| Description | International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is one of 15 international research centers supported by the network of 60 governments, private foundations and international and regional organizations collectively known as Consortium Group of International Agricultural Research Centres (CGIAR). It is a non-profit organization having offices in over 14 countries across Asia and Africa and Headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka IWMI headquarters was established in Sri-Lanka through Act NO.6 of 1985 of the Parliament of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri-Lanka with special status and privileges. This was subsequently amended to change the name from International Irrigation Management Institute (IIMI) to IWMI through Act No.50 of 2000 |
